Discovering Alberobello with Marino
General information on Alberobello
A UNESCO heritage site since 1996, Alberobello is a small town known all over the world for its Trulli, typical cone-shaped buildings made of local stone. The country is home to tourism, craftsmanship, and exquisite food and wine-making. Walking along the alleys of the Rione Aia Piccola, the most authentic area of the town, you can discover a world of yesteryear, where elderly people still live in the Trulli, with an overhead loft as a bedroom. The Rione Monti, on the other hand, is the largest agglomeration of Trulli - counting about a thousand - to visit, rich in souvenirs and panoramic terraces. A bit further away, but still accessible on foot, is the Trullo Sovrano: behind the Church of Saints Medici Cosma and Damiano, it represents the most advanced and prestigious example of a Trullo on two floors.
