Discovering Luxembourg with Marino
General information on Luxembourg
Luxembourg is a peculiar city, since it is the capital of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, a small state between Western Europe and Central Europe. It is also the official seat of the European Union and it houses its jurisdictional and financial institutions. From a touristic point-of-view, Luxembourg has many untold treasures. Its most singular attraction is represented by the Bock Casemates, an immense defensive maze excavated into the rocky promontory that dominates the city. Built in 1644, they have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Grund should also be visited, the quarter located in the lower part of the city, in the valley that divides the old town from the modern city. Worth a mention is the Chemin de la Corniche, which represents an interesting attraction, so much so as to be described as “the most beautiful balcony in Europe”.
